About Peterborough
Peterborough is
a vibrant town of 6,100 residents located along the Nubanusit
and Contoocook Rivers in the Monadnock region of southwestern
New Hampshire. The town has a thriving business center featuring
many small shops, a grocer, organic market, restaurants, art
galleries, churches, banks, a library, historical museum, and
a museum of world cultures. Education and culture are an important
part of life in our community.
The town is home to the renowned MacDowell Colony, which celebrates
its 100th anniversary this year; the first public library in the
country; an active historical society; and Peterborough Players,
the oldest operating summer theater in the country. Peterborough
is surrounded by mountains and lakes, and prides itself on a strong
commitment to its natural resources and to the arts community that
