for pregnant and parenting young women and their families,
SafeSitter® babysitting classes, and much more.
Club Cannon
Club Cannon in downtown Peterborough is a Teen Center created
by teens, for teens. Karaoke, stand-up comedy, battle-of-the-bands,
dances, movies, and teen leadership training are a few of the
activities and events that are offered. Club Cannon has a widescreen
television with DVD/VCR, a karaoke machine, 2 pool/ping-pong
tables, a foosball table, an air hockey table, and a PA system.

The Elizabeth Room for Young People at the town library is a
gathering place for families to read, play, visit, or work on
school projects. Globes, pictures, board books, fun books and
research books help children with homework or learn about the
world around them. A delightful display of large picture books
is at differing viewing-levels, for even the smallest book-lover
to appreciate. Regular programs
include Preschool Storytime, with songs, movement, crafts, and
stories; Stories and Stitches, a knitting group where families
gather to knit and hear stories; and Pizza and Pages, a book discussion
group for 4th graders and up. The annual Young Poet’s Writing
Challenge, during National Poetry Month, involves MacDowell Colony
poets in judging original poetry submitted by children of all
ages.
